ABOUT US

Our Mission

“We, Bethany English Congregation, exist to follow and to make followers of Christ” (Matt 28:19)

Our Vision

To be a gospel-centered church seeking to save the lost (Luke 19:10), equipping them for the work of ministry (Ephesians 4:12), and reproducing disciples that make disciples empowered by the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8).

Our Beliefs

We believe the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God and that men of God were inspired by the Holy Spirit to write every word of Scripture. The Bible is therefore infallible and trustworthy in both the Old Testament and the New Testament.

We believe the authority of the written Word is grounded in the incarnate Word, God the Son Jesus Christ, full of the Father’s nature. In the incarnation, the Word became flesh to reveal God to man and offer all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge to His people, by which the written Word provides teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness.

We believe in one true God existing in distinct three persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), each of whom is fully and equally God the Creator essentially and eternally; therefore, possesses all of the divine nature and attributes, and is totally worthy of worship and praise from all creation including man.

We believe man can be saved only by grace through faith in Christ alone; it is not a result of works but the free gift of God. The shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross provides the sole basis for forgiveness of sins and salvation, as it opens the new and living way for God’s elect to be brought back to the Father.

We believe every Christian who was saved and became members of His family must live for Christ and not for themselves, as they continue to walk by faith, rooted and built up in the living and active Word of God and established in the faith—not by their power but through the regenerating and sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit.

We believe the church is the body of Christ, of which Jesus is the Head and who consists of God’s elect in Christ to become members of the community of the new covenant, in which they were bought with a price of the blood of Jesus.

We believe within the covenant community of the church, God’s grace is extended through the preaching of the Word and the administration of the Sacraments (Baptism and the Lord’s Supper).

We believe in the personal and imminent coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and this hope has a vital bearing on the present personal life and service of the believer.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead, of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord; and of the non-believer to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment.
